HAB 2011: Francis Ford Coppola awards “Dulce” by Ivan Ruiz Flores!
“Dulce”, by Spanish director Ivan Ruiz Flores, is the winner of the first edition of HAB - HeArtBeats Venice Short Film Festival 2011, the side event of this year’s edition of Venice Arrhythmias. The work received the Best Short Film Award, while the Special Jury Award was given to “Come si dice” by Italian director Cristian Benaglio. Both the films were awarded during a very special ceremony, on Sunday 9, 2011, which was honoured by the presence - via webcall - by great cinema maestro Francis Ford Coppola.
The multi-Academy Award winner director was the prestigious President of this year’s Jury, composed by leading figures from the cardiology, cinema and culture worlds - in a wonderful meeting of different sensibilities and perspectives that undoubtedly enriched both the festival in itself and the experience of all its participants. HAB 2011 also hosted many other cinema leading figures, such as
directors Krzysztof Zanussi, Gennaro Nunziante and Rafal Wieczynski, as well as international celebrities like Russian novelist Nicolai Lilin and Brazilian virtuoso pianist Marcelo Cesena.
